What is FRAM?
FRAM is a method for modelling and analysing complex socio-technical systems. Rather than beginning with failures, components, or predefined eventsequences, FRAM describes the functions required for an activity to succeedand the potential dependencies among them.
FRAM provides a structured way to describe how everyday work actually takes place, how performance varies, and how interactions among functions can contribute to both successful and unexpected outcomes.
A FRAM model can support retrospective analysis, prospective analysis, system design, and the exploration of everyday work.
